The Camden Partnership (TCP) is pleased to announce Congressman Buddy Carter as the keynote speaker for the annual “A Community That Cares” luncheon on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at the Triplex Conference Center aboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay (NSBKB). Past speakers at these events have been Chiefs of Naval Operation Admiral Michael Mullen and Admiral Jonathan Greenert, Commandants of the Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen and Admiral Robert Papp, Governor Sonny Perdue and Congressman Jack Kingston. Sponsors for this event will be announced soon.

“Congressman Carter began his involvement and support of the NSBKB community early in his campaign with numerous visits to our area. He recently testified on Capitol Hill in support of the Ohio Replacement Program support for the replacement of the submarines that are home ported at NSBKB and Bangor, Washington. This issue and others were taken to Washington on the Camden County Chamber of Commerce Annual D.C. Fly-In. Other issues of community importance addressed at the Fly-In were: Spaceport Camden; fulfilling NSBKB and area industry workforce needs; supporting increased missions for NSBKB; Interstate 95 Exit 1 planning; K-12 education; HB 170 Transportation Funding Act of 2015; and wetland delineation. Tickets will be available soon but we ask everyone to save the date,” said Sheila McNeill, President.

Congressman Buddy Carter is an experienced businessman, healthcare professional and faithful public servant. As the owner of Carter’s Pharmacy, Inc., South Georgians have trusted Buddy with their most valuable assets: their health, lives and families for more than thirty years. While running his business, he learned how to bal-ance a budget and create jobs. He also saw firsthand the devastating impacts of government overregulation which drives his commitment to ensuring that the federal government creates policies to empower business in-stead of increasing burdens on America’s job creators. A committed public servant, Buddy previously served as the Mayor of Pooler, Georgia and in the Georgia General Assembly where he used his business experience to make government more efficient and responsive to the people.

Buddy is serving his first term in the United States House of Representatives and is a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee as well as the Committees on Homeland Security and Oversight and Government Reform. As the only pharmacist serving in Congress, Buddy is the co-chair of the Community Pharmacy Caucus and is dedicated to working towards a healthcare system that provides more choices, less costs and better services. A lifelong resident of the First District, Buddy was born and raised in Port Wentworth, Georgia and is a proud graduate of Young Harris College and the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Buddy married his college sweetheart, Amy, 36 years ago. Buddy and Amy now reside in Pooler, Georgia, and have three sons, two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren.
