Partnership bids farewell to two

July 19, 2013

The Camden Partnership (TCP) recently lost two members from its board of directors. Dr. Valerie Hepburn retired as president of the College of Coastal Georgia, and Lorette Hoover, president of Altamaha Technical College, was reassigned to another service area within Georgia.

Hoover has been actively working to get a technical college campus in Camden County for several years. At one point her efforts, in conjunction with those of Camden County citizens, put the Camden campus at the top of the state priority list for new technical college campus construction. However, funding situations in the state budget changed the priority list. The state did acknowledge her efforts and contributions to the Technical College System in Georgia by keeping her in that arena, only not in Camden County. Her personal commitment and professionalism will be missed by the board.

Dr. Hepburn, with her vision and energy, transformed the College of Coastal Georgia campus in Brunswick with an unprecedented construction program to coincide with the college becoming a fouryear institution. The Camden campus was likewise a recipient of her vision. While on the TCP board, she exhibited the same energy as well as great leadership and organizational skills that will benefit the partnership for years to come.

The board will miss both of these directors and their contributions to the partnership. Their efforts on behalf of the board verified why they have been so successful in their respective positions. The board wishes both continued success in their future endeavors.

TCP welcomes two new members to its board, Bill Gross of W.H. Gross Construction Company, and Alecia Webb of Brenau University. The board looks forward to working with these new members as the mission of The Camden Partnership is continued: to advocate, support and strengthen military missions, and improve the quality of life for military members by enhancing military and community partnerships.
