Team Camden Hosted Camden Connection

Officials from across Georgia gathered in Camden October 30 and 31, 2013, to see what Camden County has to offer. This was an effort to bring in individuals who are now or might be working with our economic development and tourism leadership to learn more about Camden County and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

The first day of the visit the group's tour started at the Kingsland Welcome Center, moving to the potential site for the Kingsland adventure park, Osprey Cove, the Gilman Building Products construction site, Express Scripts, the intracoastal gateway site, the St. Marys waterfront, Beachview Tent Rentals, and the future site of Summer Industries. At each stop representatives from several businesses shared with the visitors the advantages of locating in Camden.

The group also discussed the benefits of Southeast Georgia Health Systems, the College of Coastal Georgia, Altamaha Technical College and Camden County High School as well as the history of Cumberland Island National Seashore and the water access in St. Marys.

The following day they had briefings and toured Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and the USS Alaska. The event ended with a luncheon at the galley at Kings Bay hosted by Team Camden.
